Multimedia and Hypertext - a great reading, from Jakob Nielsen, a an engineer @ SunSoft, in Mountain View, California / USA.
Flashy cover - Macromedia's Director is one of the (fast) referred Hypermedia systems.
3rd place, ahead of all those dudes. This is Mexico, the highest altitude F1 track, ever, since 1967. If there is one thing that GPL doesn't model is power loss with higher altitudes / less oxygen - the car revs up as it does on other tracks, when running the same setup.
S*it happens - this time, this Schumacher' like driver, decided I had one wheel too many... |
Multimedia & Hypertext
- the Internet and Beyond [part 1]
One of the greatest teachers I had, once advised me to read this book, but I didn't have the chance to do it, until now. I am enjoying Jakob Nielsen's "M & H", and I am finding it one of those books, you must press yourself to STOP reading, or it will just eat your day... There are 450 pages on hypermedia systems, from Hypercards to videogames. This title is really "heavy" on the quantity of examples, but "light" on the approach, meaning that you'll never fell smashed with "out of the sky" theory, that seems to fit nowhere. The "theory" you'll find is more about concepts that people tend to misapply, and thus aren't fully understood. But "Multimedia and Hypertext" doesn't try to build walls that separate "right" from "wrong"; instead, Nielsen searches discussion and, in some cases, doesn't close the questions. Wise. This book reminds me "Economics of Strategy" [check 160400], on the sense that it is very much built on real life cases, on examples, and on current trends. A great reading, but we'll chat more about it... Grand Prix Legends - more times Prior to trying the Mexican track, here is my personal record @ Silverstone: 1:29:73. This time was achieved on a qualifying session, with other cars on track. Download and enjoy the replay, which is a .rpy file that must be unzipped and placed at your GPL replays folder. Meanwhile check the pictures on the left and right columns - they should give you a slight idea of the extreme realism that goes on GP Legends... Still to come, the day I'll have time to build a video stream of a flying lap, so you can really see why nothing comes close to this 2 years old (and still very much ahead of all alternatives) product! 1:29:73 [494 KB] / Ferrari / Silverstone / Qualifying |
Multimedia and Hypertext - yes, I am still reading it. It has 450 pages, you know...
This is ISBN 0 - 12 - 518408 - 5
There goes my front left wheel - this comes from the sequence that starts on the left column.
To be honest, I was really feeling the pressure - here is a mistake under braking, for Mexico's first (right) turn. |
