What's going on?

As July 1999 slowly dies, I get more and more overloaded with work. But please don't fear: all this work will pay dividends on the long term... and that means end of August. These dividends will be obvious for the regular visitors of this website; for example, expect a VRML version of the pages - just imagine yourself browsing in 3D, from a starting point where you can walk towards the novelties, the videos, the documents and all the other sections... of course the regular plain HTML version will continue to exist, since it is more adequate to the current contents and also faster to download.

AvP is hard

This sunday I found time to reload my position, as a marine, in Aliens versus Predator. I am now on Director's cut episode #5, and I am very close to quit trying. The game is sooooooo hard on that max difficulty version, that I simply can't handle all the xenomorphs, predators, xenoborgs and their variants.

@ episode 5, there is this dark corridor, where aliens literally fall down from the ceiling, as if they were leaves!!! I regularly manage to enter this corridor with 100 health and 100 armor, plenty of ammo, but - even when surviving until its end - I can't face the "final room", where what I presume to be a xenoborg waits me, while invisible! Its really hard! I get an average of ~120 xenomorphs kills, on every attempt! This is a big number, believe me.

Meanwhile, download this AvP game launcher [120 K ZIP FILE], which gives you access to such nice features, as frame-rate counter.

Remember that AvP has been a regular July feature of this website. Check the July links.

Age of Empires 2

One of the greatest games ever, Age of Empires (AoE), is about to be continued! AoE2 is being previewed on magazines since December 1998, and it sure looks promising. If you want to participate on the project, as a BETA TESTER, follow this link, from Gamestats.

Being a Microsoft BETA TESTER is a very good thing... you get plenty of documentation, you enjoy yourself, and your feedback will not be in vain! I strongly advise you to try your chance. Drop me a line, if you do manage to be selected.

Michael Crichton was right!

The nowadays extinct Huia bird of New Zealand will probably be the first species to become live, again, thanks to DNA cloning, from preserved specimens. The story, couldn't read more like Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park, but it seems true... since I read it @ wired NEWS :)
